Paintings....We live in a unique time of accelerated adaptation. I like to hybridize biomorphic images from natural and artificial sources to create a sense of possibility and changeability… the relationships between biology and human tinkering. I intend for my works to invoke awareness of the experimental nature of human and natural systems and their effects on consciousness.

Portraits....Your commissioned portrait may commemorate a special time for someone, a special part of childhood, a wedding, or an anniversary; it will be an enduring tribute to someone you love and respect. A portrait is a work of art that celebrates a special person, captures his or her personality, and lasts through generations.

Martin establishes a unique rapport with the person, getting to know them through discussions and interviews. This process may include preliminary drawings - charcoal studies, and taking reference photographs.

"The portrait is a personal expression of both the artist and the subject. I enhance what I see in the subject and what they see in themselves."

If it is impractical for the subject to sit for the portrait, Martin works from photographs using frontal, natural light. He can take the photographs or they can be provided to him.
